Where to start
For nonfiction, prioritize whether the tool preserves evidence and helps you inspect claims. Natural prose is useful, but a confident unsupported explanation can make the book less reliable. Test with a small source packet you understand well enough to evaluate yourself.
Shortlist a general assistant for analysis and drafting, or a book workspace such as EarnDraft for manuscript organization. Treat research, drafting and publication as separate responsibilities even when one product offers several of them. No tool removes the author's verification work.
Create a source-limited trial
- Supply a short document containing a few verified facts, one limitation and one unresolved question.
- Ask for an explanation that uses only that packet and marks missing evidence.
- Check every number, quotation and inference against the source.
- Change one source value and ask for the affected passages to be revised.
- Inspect whether the qualification and unresolved question survive the edit.
Test averages and causation
A hypothetical workshop reports that 20 participants completed 60 practice tasks in total. The average is three tasks per participant; it does not establish that every participant completed three. If completion improved after a new handbook was introduced, that timing alone does not prove the handbook caused the improvement.
A useful draft retains those distinctions and avoids inventing a success story. Score factual fidelity, completeness and clarity separately. If a model gives a valid calculation but an unsupported conclusion, do not let the arithmetic hide the reasoning error.
Check your result
- All claims can be traced to supplied evidence or clearly marked research.
- No citation is accepted without checking the original source.
- Unknown information remains unknown rather than being filled with plausible detail.
- Corrections propagate through the whole passage.
