Where to start
Treat AI artwork as a draft stage. Plan the experience, create a reference page, generate a small batch and review before expanding. A book assembled from unrelated attractive images can feel inconsistent even when each image looks acceptable alone.
Choose the final page size and whether artwork reaches the edge before layout. Keep original image files and accepted revisions so you can replace one page without reconstructing the whole book.
Use a staged production sequence
- Define audience, theme, complexity, page proportions and intended coloring tools.
- Approve a reference page and a short style sheet.
- Generate a small batch with different compositions; reject defects before generating the rest.
- Repair ambiguous shapes, unwanted shading and broken outlines.
- Assemble front matter, artwork and intentional blanks, then inspect the exported PDF and a printed proof.
Plan variety inside one theme
A woodland garden book could include planting seeds, watering pots, gathering leaves and resting beside a greenhouse. Keep the same line treatment and character proportions while varying viewpoint and object arrangement. Repeating the same centered rabbit with different accessories is weaker variety.
After the first batch, compare pages side by side. If one uses thin intricate lines and another uses bold open shapes, repair the style mismatch before making more. Keep a page ledger with the image version, accepted corrections and final PDF page number.
Check your result
- Every page is understandable without color.
- No page contains unresolved anatomy or object-connection defects.
- The assembled file uses the intended order and dimensions.
- Publication disclosures describe the actual production process.
